The Endocrine and Metabolic Surgery Unit is a National Reference Center for Thyroid Surgery and a Center of Excellence for Obesity Surgery. It specializes in surgical diseases of the endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, and endocrine tumours) and severe obesity.
The Unit focuses on minimally invasive and robot-assisted techniques, ensuring better recovery and aesthetic results. They follow protocols from leading scientific societies and participate in multidisciplinary teams for thyroid and neuroendocrine tumours.
In bariatric surgery, they perform various procedures like gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy, tailored to patient needs. The Unit handles about 1500 surgeries annually, including 700 oncological thyroid surgeries and 700 bariatric surgeries.
