The Microbiology Unit’s laboratory specializes in the diagnosis of infectious diseases both within the university institution and in the broader community, providing diagnostic, surveillance, and consulting services in various microbiological disciplines, including bacteriology, molecular biology, mycology, parasitology, anti-infective serology, and virology.
Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for microbiological activities, including ultracentrifuges, ultrafreezers, HPLC and FPLC systems, traditional and real-time gene amplification devices (quantitative PCR), nucleotide sequencing equipment, image acquisition and processing systems (Fluor-S MAX 2), spectrophotometers, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis apparatus (CHEF Mapper), Bruker Daltonics mass spectrometers for MALDI-TOF analysis of pathogenic bacteria and yeasts, electroporators for bacterial and yeast DNA transformation, animal infection equipment via aerosol, various DNA analysis instruments, laminar flow hoods, and more.
