The most common procedures performed with this technique are gastroscopy, which examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, and colonoscopy, which visualizes the intestines. A digestive endoscopist is typically a gastroenterologist specialized in using endoscopic instruments to diagnose and treat major diseases affecting the digestive organs.
